Answers are everywhere. Understanding is rare. We teach kids how to think, not just what to think. That's what prepares them for what's next.
AI tools can produce an essay in seconds. They cannot teach your child to think critically, argue clearly, or solve problems under pressure. We build the real thing.
Every tutor is personally interviewed, screened, and background-checked, whether they're a university student or a certified teacher. Your child works with someone we genuinely trust.
We are not here to get your child through the next test. We are here to build the habits, strategies, and confidence that stay with them through high school, university, and beyond.
The world our children are growing up in looks very different than the one we grew up in. Information is everywhere, and AI tools can generate answers in seconds.
But answers alone are not enough. In a world where answers are available instantly, understanding matters more than ever. Students still need to think critically, communicate clearly, solve problems, evaluate information, and make good decisions. Those are the skills that will help them succeed no matter how technology changes.
At Future Minds Collective, we embrace new tools while helping students build the understanding and confidence that technology cannot replace.
All sessions take place at public libraries and community centres across Durham Region. No long contracts, no commute to a learning centre.
Future Minds Collective was founded by a Durham Region educator who got tired of watching students chase grades instead of building skills.
Kathleen has spent more than 15 years teaching, from young children in grades 1–3 to university students and working professionals. Tutoring was her very first job, even before babysitting, and it's what carried her through high school, university, and the years since. She's led workshops for schools, university classes, and organizations along the way, and has always believed that communication is one of the most important foundational skills a child can build, often the one that gets the least direct attention.
Outside of teaching, Kathleen is a mom of two raising her kids right here in Durham Region. She's a regular at school field trips, sits on her kids' school council, and can usually be found with a coffee in hand. On a good sunny day, you might catch her in the backyard with a book, or attempting (with mixed results) to grow a green thumb. She started Future Minds Collective because she wants every family in this community to have access to the same kind of patient, genuine support she wants for her own kids.
There is no shortage of tutoring options in Durham Region. Here is why families choose Future Minds Collective.
